Evan Speciale is a second-year law student at the University of Arizona College of Law with an interest in Patent and other Intellectual Property law. Evan graduated from Arizona State University in 2014, cum laude, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry. Evan hopes to practice patent law in the Biotechnology field, and is especially interested in Nanotechnology.
Evan’s undergraduate research focused on protein expression and purification, attempting to express quercetin 2,3-dioxygenase from fungal Aspergillus oryzae in bacterial E. coli cells. Something about actually working on something so complex gave him a greater appreciation for the infinite possibilities of research scientists. He figured that patent law was a good way to experience the breadth of the field while also having a hand in introducing these discoveries to the public and helping inventors secure their right to be recognized and rewarded for their hard work.
